How much does an AI voice agent cost for a hotel?

The honest answer has two layers — what a call costs to run, and what vendors charge. Here are the real numbers, and the pricing model that actually fits a property.

Ask five vendors what an AI voice agent costs and you’ll get five sales-gated answers. The real cost has two layers, and once you separate them the picture is simple.

What a call actually costs to run

A production voice call is a stack: speech-to-text, an LLM, text-to-speech, telephony, and hosting. On a budget stack (Deepgram, a fast Gemini or GPT-4o-mini model, Deepgram Aura, Twilio, and managed hosting) that lands around 4–5 cents a minute all-in for a phone call, and roughly 3 cents for a web call. A five-minute booking conversation therefore costs about 21–26 cents to run.

That floor matters because it tells you what margin is available — and it exposes vendors whose “platform fee” is mostly markup on the same commodity stack.

What vendors actually charge

  • Horizontal platforms: a $0.05/min platform fee on top of pass-through (Vapi), $0.055/min plus add-ons (Retell), or $0.11–0.14/min all-in (Bland).
  • Enterprise voice: reported contracts starting around $150,000 a year (PolyAI) — which prices out most regional and independent properties.
  • Hospitality SaaS: hints of $1–4 per room per month on review sites, and published $399–599 per location per month in adjacent restaurant tools.

The pricing model that fits a hotel

Per-minute-only pricing is the wrong shape for a property: it surrenders your value to a commodity meter that infrastructure vendors keep repricing downward. The model that fits is a per-property monthly platform fee for predictability, usage for scale, and a per-booked-room component you can verify — because every booking is written back to your PMS with a real record id.

The number that renews the contract isn’t cost — it’s revenue booked against it. A booked room is worth far more than the quarter it cost to book. Any vendor that can’t show you revenue attributed to the agent, against the calls that produced it, is selling you a meter, not an outcome.
